Ruth Shirk lives in Brownwood, Texas, with her boxer Zena. Of course, her husband Bobby lives there too. She has been a freelance writer for the last 10 years. She is constantly writing with Zena who she rescued at her feet.
Ruth grew up in Kellogg, Iowa, where she was the daughter of a livestock feed salesman. She highly values the wisdom of others who love animals and the land more than themselves.
After selling the feed store when Ruth was in the fifth grade, the family went on to operate Murphy Tennessee Walker Farm. Ruth went on to graduate from Newton High School and the University of Northern Iowa.
She became one of the first teachers to introduce dog therapy to a classroom. During that time, Ruth also trained horses including the world grand champion American Saddlebred three-year-old in-hand horse.
She has a special passion for older dogs who have outlived their senior owners. Even after raising dogs for 30 years, she will be the first one to tell you that each dog is unique.
If you would like to contact her, she is available by emailing [email protected] or you can look her up on Facebook.
